FRAUD CALLS: Please Make Your Parents Aware

One of our readers writes… 

“Respected admin,

This is to bring to your attention an attempted fraud/scam whatsapp call received today (27th April 2024), at around 12.30 pm on my father’s phone number. 

The caller who claimed himself as an officer in charge, claimed that I had been arrested by the police for allegedly supplying drugs. The call was intended to demand a sum of money in exchange for dismissing the case and releasing me from custody.

I would like to clarify that I have not been involved in any criminal activities and this call appears to be a fraudulent attempt to extort money from us. My father did not entertain the caller’s demands and immediately terminated the call. However, considering the seriousness of the matter and the potential harm it may cause to others,  who may fall victim to such scams, I would like to spread awareness via your page to prevent similar incidents in future.”
